Dysport ®
Like Botox ® , Dysport® is a painless injectable that provides a more youthful appearance to the face by temporarily immobilizing muscles. Also FDA-approved, Dysport® contains the same active ingredient as Botox« to smooth out creases, wrinkles and frown lines on the face. Some studies have shown that it may even offer faster and longer-lasting results than Botox® . Our plastic surgeons are experts in using Dysport® , and patients at both our Manhattan and New Jersey offices have experienced remarkable anti-aging effects.
Latisse ®

RADIESSEÖ
RadiesseÖ is another type of "filler" that provides a similar anti-aging effect as Juvederm«, in that it diminishes the lines of the nasolabial(nose and lip) folds and on the upper lip, adds volume to the cheeks, and contours the chin and jaw. This injectable anti-aging treatment is made of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a water-based gel that feel soft and natural and work by stimulating collagen growth for up to two years. RadiesseÖis provided by our plastic surgeons and takes just 30 minutes. Patients may develop mild swelling and bruising, but are frequently able to return to work the next day.
SCULPTRA ®
As an anti-aging alternative to filling wrinkles, Sculptra« adds volume to areas of the face and hands that have lost fat as a normal result of aging. Made of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic, biodegradable material that does not harm the body, Sculptra« is injected into the skin and stimulates the production of collagen to gradually improve the overall facial appearance. This effective anti-aging treatment eliminates sunken cheeks and hollowed-out eyes with natural-looking results that can last up to a few years. Sculptra« is available at both our New Jersey and Manhattan plastic surgery practices as a 30-minute office-based procedure.
LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Unwanted and/or excessive facial and body hair is a problem for many people, causing embarrassment and distress. Laser hair removal, sometimes referred to as electrolysis, is an office-based procedure that uses the intense heat of a laser to eliminate hair from such areas as the upper lip, chin, bikini line, armpits and legs. The laser beam effectively damages individual hair follicles to inhibit future growth. At the Plastic Surgery Center in New Jersey, our plastic surgeons perform laser hair removal along with periodic maintenance treatments to ensure you have a prolonged hair-free period.
Before the procedure, you will be fitted with protective goggles and also may receive a topical anesthetic to reduce any discomfort from the laser. You may feel a stinging sensation during the procedure and, afterward, experience redness, swelling and crusting of the skin. Some patients have temporary pigment changes.
Laser hair removal offers the best results to people with light skin and dark hair. When hair does grow back after treatment, it typically is lighter and finer.

LASER SCAR REMOVAL
Do you have stretch marks or other scars that make you feel self-conscious about your appearance? The Plastic Surgery Center in New Jersey offers a solution with laser scar removal, which can reduce the appearance of scars by up to 80 percent. Our plastic surgeons employ this safe and effective laser skin treatment to remove many types of scars, including keloid (reddish-purple scars that are firm and raised and have extended beyond the wound area); hypertrophic (pink scars that are firm and raised and are contained within the wound area); and atrophic (pockmarks in the skin that typically result from acne).
Laser scar removal uses a high-energy laser light to remove a layer of skin over a scar, thereby exposing new skin and allowing it to heal healthier and thicker. In some cases, the laser targets lower layers to help stimulate collagen growth and correct scars. For this outpatient surgery, you may receive either local or general anesthesia and may require multiple treatments, based on the location and degree of scarring.
Aftercare of laser scar removal typically involves antibiotic ointment to prevent infection and a follow-up evaluation. Your skin may start regenerating as quickly as four days after treatment. Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation are common side effects.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL
These days, many people with tattoos are choosing to have them removed. If you're one of them, you can rest easy knowing that the surgical removal techniques of the past, which often left a lot of scarring, have been replaced with laser therapy, now considered the gold standard in removing tattoos. Lasers work by sending intense pulses of light into the skin to break down ink particles, which are then filtered away by the body. There are no incisions or blood loss, and the skin surrounding the tattoo is unaffected. Laser tattoo removal is most suited for fair-skinned individuals and tattoos on thicker-skinned areas like the chest, buttocks, arms and legs. It usually requires multiple sessions over a period of weeks or even months, depending on the size, location, color and age of the tattoo.
Tattoo removal by the plastic surgeons at the Plastic Surgery Center in New Jersey begins with protective goggles for the patient and a test of the skin to determine the best and most appropriate laser pulse strength; a topical anesthetic also may be applied. During the actual therapy, you may experience some discomfort from the laser's rapid pulses. Afterward, you will apply ice to reduce swelling and be given post-treatment instructions, which are similar to those for sunburn.
While laser tattoo removal is highly safe and effective, some minimal residual scarring may occur, especially following numerous sessions. Other possible side effects include fading of the skin or excessive color of the skin.
