Breast Augmentation - Who is a Good Candidate

Breast Augmentation - Who is a Good Candidate

Given the fact that the media is saturated with women with larger chests, many women who were not blessed with large breasts consider themselves to be lacking in that area. While most women are happy with what they have, others decide that they want to have breast augmentation, typically in the form of saline or silicone breast implants. However, the surgery is not right for everyone and there are several important things to consider.

The best candidates for the surgery are women who are presently an A or B cup size, falling anywhere within those sizes (i.e., barely B, etc.). While doctors may operate on a C or D cup and increase them to an even larger size, it can be taking the surgery a bit too far. The idea of breast augmentation is to create a look that is natural and not one that is greatly out of proportion.

Teenagers who have not finished growing are not the best candidates for breast augmentation. Although most girls finish growing a few years into puberty, it is not unheard of for a girl to have a growth spurt late in her teen years. Such a growth spurt could result in an increase in breast size to the point that she is happy with her breasts as they are. Also, teenagers are not always the most rational thinkers and it is best to put a few years of thought into such a major plastic surgery, rather than allowing a snap decision.

Breast augmentation is also best for women who are not severely depressed, do not suffer from eating disorders, and who do not think that getting the surgery will “make life better for them.” If a woman is struggling with any of these issues, it is best to have them resolved prior to surgery. If she is just using the procedure as a “quick fix,” more than likely she will regret her decision when the “fix” doesn’t come and her problems still exist. Having low self-esteem is not the same as these more serious issues and should not prevent surgery.

However, a healthy woman, both in mind and body, who just wants to improve her outward appearance, and has thought things through, would be the ideal candidate for breast augmentation.
