Brow Lift

At The Plastic Surgery Center, we see that many people over time develop deep horizontal creases across the forehead, pinched furrows above the nose, or heavy, drooping eyebrows.

By performing a brow lift for our patients, we can reverse the lined, drooping brow that has left them looking tired, angry, sad, or simply far older than they actually are. The brow lift works to reverse this effect by lifting and tightening the skin on the forehead and smoothing out wrinkles-effectively taking years off our patients’ appearance.

Coronal Brow Lift

Coronal Brow Lift

An alternative brow lift technique is the coronal brow lift. The coronal brow lift can pinpoint specific regions of the brow to correct. This technique involves an incision from ear to ear, lifting the forehead and removing excess skin from the scalp. Recovery time is often longer than the endoscopic brow lift due to the size of the incision.

Forehead Lift Incisions

The Incision

Correction of a low-positioned or sagging brow may be made with or without the use of an endoscope through incisions at the temples and in the scalp.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a brow lift?
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, minimizes the creases that develop across the forehead, or those that occur high on the bridge of the nose, and improves pinched furrows above the nose. It also lifts a low or sagging brow. The brow lift works by lifting and tightening the skin on the forehead and smoothing out wrinkles--effectively taking years off our patients' appearance.
  • How is a brow lift done?
Although we perform all types of brow lift procedures at the New Jersey Plastic Surgery Center, the most common method is the limited scar endoscopic brow lift. In endoscopic brow lift surgery, our surgeon inserts an endoscope (miniature camera) beneath the skin through two or three small incisions. The endoscope allows him to see clearly while tightening and lifting tissue without making a larger, open incision.

We often perform a brow lift in conjunction with other surgeries or treatments to give our patients enhanced effects. Such complimentary procedures may include eyelid surgery and/or BOTOX® or Juvederm® injections.
  • Who is a good candidate for a brow lift?
A person in good health, who doesn’t smoke or have excessive exposure to the sun will experience the longest lasting results from a brow lift. Also, realistic expectations are important. The goal of a brow lift is to decrease lines and wrinkles, but still leave a patient looking natural.

The skilled plastic surgeons at the New Jersey and New York offices of The Plastic Surgery Center often perform the brow lift procedure in combination with other facial enhancing surgeries to maintain a youthful balance in the face.
  • How long is the recovery process from a brow lift?
The initial bruising and swelling following surgery begins to resolve at the end of the first week. Full healing may take two to three weeks. However, you may use make-up to cover bruising after about a week to ten days. You may likely return to work at that time. It will take two to three weeks before you should resume exercise activities.
  • What is the best way to maximize the results of a brow lift?
The skilled plastic surgeons at The Plastic Surgery Center often perform the brow lift procedure in combination with other facial enhancing surgeries to maintain a youthful balance in the face. With or without other enhancements, you should avoid smoking and excessive sun exposure.
